2023 Mazda CX-5 Top Safety Features

The new 2023 Mazda CX-5 was released with an outstanding amount of safety features. This car is the facelift to the earlier Mazda CX-5 released in 2022 and has improved safety amenities. As a result, the Mazda CX-5 has won a 2023 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK award and has a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Here are the top Mazda CX-5 safety features that you should know.

i-ACTIVSENSE® Safety Technology

Safety is at the forefront of buyers needs when looking for a new car, and Mazda understands this. Mazda’s safety package is known as i-ACTIVSENSE®, a set of safety functions that aim to create an accident-free driving experience.

This package is a combination of many different safety amenities, including Mazda’s Advanced Smart City Brake Support, a type of automatic braking function that works during the day, night, and can detect pedestrians. Also included in the i-ACTIVSENSE® package is Traffic Jam Assist which is a steering assist function designed to prevent the driver’s from getting tired or distracted when sitting in traffic.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

How many times have you checked behind you, and the area is clear, but when you back out, a car suddenly comes from your side? Mazda's rear cross-traffic alert feature can detect vehicles approaching from the side of the car and will alert the driver with both an audible and visible warning. The visual warnings will appear in the rearview monitor display and the side mirrors, which can help prevent collisions.

Mazda Radar Cruise Control

Short of having a car that drives itself, cruise control is a popular feature that many buyers look for in a car. The 2023 Mazda CX-5 comes equipped with Mazda's Radar Cruise Control function. This feature offers a stop-and-go assist for driving in traffic, maintains speed, and keeps a safe following distance.

Smart Braking System

Perhaps one of the best safety features of the new Mazda CX-5 is its smart braking system which helps prevent head-on collisions. This safety feature utilizes a sensor mounted on the windshield and can help detect a potential collision. If the driver makes no move to avoid the collision, the technology will apply the brakes.

This feature will only activate if your Mazda CX-5 is traveling under 18 mph.

Lane Departure Warning and Lane-Keep Assist

Driving in your lane is an important part of driving safely. Mazda's Lane Departure Warning and Lane-Keep Assist safety features help drivers keep to their lane by predicting whether they are about to steer out of their lane. Mazda’s technology will then help correct this movement by physically adjusting the car or sending a warning.

Driver Attention Alert

Becoming distracted or drowsy when driving can result in serious collisions. The Mazda CX-5 comes equipped with a Driver Attention Alert safety feature that can sense if there is less movement on the steering wheel and gas pedal, which usually indicates fatigue. An alert and warning sound is issued to alert the driver. Superior safety features like these are what make the Mazda CX-5 a popular choice in its class.
