What is the 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV Preferred?
The Mazda CX-90 PHEV plugs the gap between a 100 percent electric-powered vehicle (EV) and those vehicles that still rely on gasoline or diesel to keep them fueled up.
What Does the Preferred Trim Add?
As mentioned, the Preferred trim is the entry model in the three-vehicle lineup of Mazda CX-90 PHEV SUVs. However, being the entry trim level does not mean that it is a bare-bones offering.
The Preferred trim comes fully loaded with some impressive standard features and luxury appointments. The CX-90 PHEV Preferred comes standard in an eight-seater configuration with the option of the seven-seat package.
2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV Preferred Pricing

Stylish Interior Upgrades
The 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV Preferred offers buyers a luxury interior that would not look out of place in some costly high-end luxury SUVs. On offer are standard leather upholstery and upmarket features, all ensconced in a thoroughly modern and elegant cabin layout.
The eight-seat layout is standard, with the option of second-row captain's chairs that reduce seating spots to seven.
Up front, the seats are heated and trimmed in luxurious leather. The driver seat can be adjusted eight different ways with power lumbar support. The front passenger will also enjoy the convenience of their four-way, power-adjustable seat.
In front of the driver is a 12.3 inch full digital LCD gauge cluster display that shows the speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge, trip computer and external temperature and clock display.
Further comfort features are the tilt and telescopic steering column, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry System with push button start, paddle shifters, a 12-volt power outlet and a remote fuel door release.
Both steering wheel and shift knob are leather-wrapped, black door panel inserts with piping accents, second-row retractable window shades and carpet floor mats all work together to enhance the luxury experience. All passengers on board will appreciate the three-zone automatic climate control fitted with a pollen filter, the power windows with a one-touch down/up feature and the power door locks with speed-sensing auto-locking.

Key styling features include LED headlights with auto on/off and high beam control, LED daytime running lights, and combination tail lights.
Ensuring that the driver's view is never obstructed, the convenient and safe rain-sensing variable-intermittent windshield wipers with the intermittent rear wiper/washer are fitted. Body-colored power side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals are standard. The mesh front grille is finished in a gloss black and black wheel arch molding that protects the paintwork from runaway shopping trolleys in parking lots or branches when venturing off the beaten track.
Further luxury items in the preferred trim are the power sliding-glass moonroof with tilt feature, rear power liftgate with programmable height adjustment and rear privacy glass plus aluminum roof rails with a satin chrome finish.
The preferred trim rides on 19 x 8.5J aluminum alloy wheels with silver finish fitted with P 265/55 R19 all-season tires as standard, and an AWD badge and PHEV fender badge are just some of the exterior highlights.

Handling is aided by the fitment of a steering system that features an Electronic Power Assist power rack-and-pinion with variable assist.
The CX-90 and CX-70 are also equipped with the Kinematic Posture Control technology, a feature originally developed for the 2022 MX-5 Miata sports car. This innovative software suppresses the vehicle's body lift during cornering, improving stability and traction to help the vehicle's occupants maintain a natural posture.

Buyers choosing the second row captain seats have 15.9 SAE cubic feet of initial cargo space available growing to 75.2 cubic feet with above mentioned additional space under the cargo floor and by folding down the second and third-row seats.
Apart from the generous cargo area, the CX-90 has thoughtfully appointed storage spots in and around the cabin.

An overhead console complete with sunglasses holder, front and rear door bottle holders with storage pockets and bins, plus the driver's and front passenger's seat back pockets means that there are more than enough storage spots to store everyone's travel essentials.
